Being a member of the Craftsman’s Guild challenged me and my studio to continue to improve and set high standards of craftsmanship. The wood workers, potters, weavers, could all achieve a very fine finish in their work. It was imperative that the work that Pearl River Glass Studio presented at Chimneyville Craft Show and at the Crafts Center was equal to the excellence others were achieving. This has been a lasting influence.
The friendships and memories fostered by my relationship with Guild members are incalculable in their meaning to my life. Being honored for Lifetime Achievement Award is as much a validation of the success of the Craftsman’s Guild of Mississippi as my own accomplishments.

Working from my existing knowledge I had purchased electric kilns with heating elements on the top and problems ensued with annealing large glass pieces. We discovered from consultation with Eric Lovell at Uroboros Glass that their kilns had heating elements on all six sides of the kiln enclosure.READ MORE
Designing for stained glass windows is not as mysterious as it may seem at first glance.
The nature of stained glass is to render ideas symbolically. All of the design elements, color, line, light and shade, texture, are all at play in the design for a stained glass window. This is our grammar, our means of communication just as the words on this page are symbols for meaning.
In work for the Christian church we also have a thousand year history of the stained glass artists that have gone before and left for us lasting monuments to their ingenuity, intelligence and skill.READ MORE
