McGuire United Methodist Church
Our first meeting was in the old church on Florida Rd. in West Monroe, Louisiana. We had an open discussion about the design process and what the members might want in their stained glass window. Then pastor Michi Head lead the group to work with me on the creative process of choosing a design. I showed the group examples of other stained glass window we had made and the sacraments themes of the Eucharist cup, Descending Dove of the Holy Spirit and the flowing waters of baptism were chosen as primary themes in the window.
The window we installed engages the viewer through symbol and creative form in the design. It is easy to pick out the symbols for the major themes while the background design supports these themes in a supportive way through color, texture and varying levels of transparency.
